UMPQUA VALLEY ARTS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS:
CLAY WORKSHOP WITH ANNIE CHRIETZBERG
Participants will learn how to turn flat slabs of grey clay into dynamic beautiful pieces that will enliven people’s everyday food and beverage routines. Annie will demonstrate how she prepares the clay, imprints patterns, works with texture, and uses templates for consistency in production. She will discuss different ideas about making pieces for daily use, development of form, making templates, and her glazing theory. Most importantly, she shares the tricks of making and the meticulous details of construction that she has honed in her own studio practice.

Annie Chrietzberg is a hand-builder, templatemaker and glaze formulator who has recently relocated to the forests of Central Oregon. Her current body of work is a line of mix-and-match tableware composed in pattern and color. She makes functional pottery from textured slabs, using templates that she creates, playing with the relationship between shape and form.

The Grants Pass Museum is holding its 20th Art in the Garden event on June 11-12.
Ticket holders are allowed access to 8 lovely gardens. Each garden has art available for sale. A variety of art is offered, but the art appropriate for gardens are the best selling art.
The museum provides people to monitor the gardens and sell the work, so the artist simply sets up on Saturday morning and comes back Sunday at 5:00 to pick up the unsold work. While there is no shift work, the commission to the museum is 30%. There is a jury process.
For further information, contact Hyla Lipson, GP Museum of Art Executive Director at hyla1@earthlink.net.
The announcement was submitted by Gwen Childs. If you want to chat about this event, email her at gchilds1@msn.com.
