During the second weekend in October a group of local artists will open their studio doors to the public for the third annual Ashland Open Studio Tour. The Ashland Open Studio Tour is an exciting and inspiring self-guided arts tour, brought to you by the Ashland Gallery Association. On October 8th and 9th from 11AM to 5PM visitors can tour the colorful artist studios in Ashland, Talent, Phoenix, and the Mt. Ashland area while journeying through the beauty of the fall season.

Artists of every kind invite you to come see the creative processes behind our incredible and diverse arts community. There will be a variety of mediums from painting and drawing to metal and fiber arts, as well as demonstrations, presentations, and screenings so that you can learn about each individual’s unique methods. Step Into Hope | Call for art

Step Into Hope, UCAN’s annual event to raise funding for the Food Bank, is inviting all clay work artists to make a special bowl (or whatever you’d like) to include in this year’s event.  The event will be held on August 27th, at the Food Bank, and we would love to have you all there.  The bowls will be sold to secure food for the emergency food network in Douglas County.  You are welcome to place your business cards at the empty bowl table.

Please call Susie Johnston-Forte at 541-492-3522 or email her at susie.forte@ucancap.org for more information.  Please have your work of art in to the Food Bank by July 31st.  The address is:  280 Kenneth Ford Dr. (on the hill above Costco).

A message from the 2016 Show Chair:

A number of Clayfolk potters are already busy in their studios and some of you pit fired some amazing pottery at Debbie Raddatz-Thompson and Bill Thompson’s home. The tremendous variety of remarkable pottery in the Show last year was so exciting…I can hardly wait to see what everyone creates this year! What a wonderful 40th celebration we had. The time that you put in working at the Show, along with your incredible pottery, made 2015 the best Show ever. Customers all weekend told me how friendly our potters are and how much they look forward to our Show this coming year. With all of us working together, I know we will continue to grow, amazing our returning and new customers.

Just a reminder that the newsletter is only sent hard copy to those who requested it on the Membership Application and will be sent to the rest of the Clayfolk Membership via enews. If you are applying for the Show you will need to download the Show Application, print it out and then send it to me with your booth fees.

Some things to remember:

  1. We have 3 pop-up booths available, first come, first served. Please send a separate $25 check in WITH your booth fee if you are interested.
  2. When two or more applicants have the exact same number of points, their position on the Participant List will be determined by postmark.
  3. Your Show Application must be postmarked no later than June 1st if you want to avoid a late fee. Also, late applicants are placed at the bottom of the Show Participation list.
  4. Make sure that you have turned in your Membership Application as well. The postmark deadline for turning in your Membership Form is May 31st, and you must be a current member in good standing to be eligible for the Show.

I am so grateful for all the wonderful people who help put on the Clayfolk Show & Sale and hope you enjoyed the show as much as I did. With a smile on my face and a pocket full of chocolate kisses, I am looking forward to another successful year!
