FROM THE PRESIDENT
Thanks to all of you who participated in Clayfolk activities this last year. Whether you came to a meeting, served on a committee, attended a workshop, or actively participated in the 2011 Show as a Chair, Committee Member, volunteer or supported the Show by attending, you helped make Clayfolk an amazingly successful organization, which gets better each year.
The 2012 new year started off with a delicious potluck and a fun gift exchange. The group welcomed our new Show Chair, Jim Keith. For those of you who have not met Jim, he is a phenomenal potter and an experienced Show Chair. Talking to Jim after our January General Meeting, Jim said, “I’ve been Show Chair either two or three times in just the past ten years, but who’s counting.” Jim and the Board thank all of you who took the time to send in comments and suggestions for improving the upcoming 2012 show and sale. Not all suggestions will be implemented, but you will see many positive changes, which will assist our 2012 Show in surpassing previous shows.
Please remember that the new Clayfolk membership year runs from January to December. The Membership Applications, as well the ballot for Board positions, will be sent in the newsletter you receive in September 2012. If you want to earn the 3 points for sending in your Membership Application, it must be received by January 31, 2013. Show applications will be sent out in the April Newsletter, as usual. Once again, I’m looking forward to working with all of you in the upcoming year. Clayfolk would not be the tremendous success it is without the participation of each and every one of you.
Shirley Huft
President
A WINTER-TIME TIP
(From the editor)
If you're like me and don't have running hot water in your studio, you might like this. My studio is in a barn with no plumbing and I pump my water from a large rainwater tank. I used to heat a pot of it on a hot plate for throwing and washing up. But I have a large plastic laundry sink that I keep filled with water, and I found that an aquarium heater works really well to keep it warm. A pet store should carry heaters for about $30. I leave it submersed and on all the time and it's a joy to always have warm water for washing up. If you have questions, write or call … Hannah
