Minutes of July 7, 2009 Board Meeting.


The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. at Jenny Harkins studio by Penelope Dews, President.


Present : Irene Stephens, Tish Manley, Shirley and Jerry Huft, Jenny Harkins, Ray Foster, Penelope Dews, Bonnie Morgan, and Lynita and Rudy Zajack.


1. A preliminary list of the show participants was reviewed.


2.  Discussed the newsletter : In the past newsletters were sent to non-renewing members for a year as a courtesy; however, it has been brought to the board’s attention that some members assumed because they were getting a newsletter their membership was current.

Resolution: The July newsletter will be the last newsletter for non-renewing

members. The membership chair will place a red dot on the labels to notify the newsletter editor the member has not renewed. The newsletter editor will put a red membership renewal reminder into the newsletter. An E-mail reminder will be sent to those non-renewing members who receive their newsletter via E-mail.


3.   Show news :

a. Discussed show work shifts. A change will be made in the show application to clarify the wording so members will have a clearer idea of how many shifts they anticipate working.

b. Will have door prizes on Sunday again this year. A door prize committee will be chosen and will be given one point.

c.  Will let go of the gallery for now. Drop the gallery committee.

d. Pre- and post-show meetings are mandatory; however, some members do not attend or leave early. Discussed a sign in sheet.

e.  Discussed concerns brought forth by Sue Roden regarding making more frequent bank deposits.  The issue of separate tills tabled for future board meeting.

f. Discussed renting a microphone for the Show Chair.


4.   Ray gave a review of the bank account.


5.   Scholarship will be $1,800 this year.


6.   Next membership meeting – Kathy Harvey’s house on July 22 at 6:30 . Show chair will be prior to the membership meeting at 5:30 .


7.   Next board meeting will be on September 29, 6 p.m. at Ray Foster’s home.


Meeting dismissed at 7:20 p.m.
