Minutes of General Membership Meeting – January 23, 2011

 

      The meeting was called to order at 2:30 p.m. at the Talent Fire House by Penelope Dews, President.

 

Attending: Sign-in sheet taken by Cheryl Kempner at the end of meeting.

 

  1. Potluck.

 

  1. New members introduced themselves.

Bill and Clare Delffs (members for a while but first meeting attended) – Eugene .

Annette Trujillo - Returning member – Talent.

 

  1. Dates of general membership meetings were reviewed and hosts volunteered

March 20 – Sunday, 2:30 p.m. – The Hufts in Grants Pass for pit fire and potluck.

May 25 – Wednesday, 6 p.m. , Cheryl Kempner in Ashland .

July 24 – Sunday, 2:30 p.m. , The Casaleggio's home in Jacksonville .

October 16 – Sunday, 2:30 p.m. , location to be announced – Booth pick.

January 22, 2012 – Sunday, 2:30 p.m. , location to be announced – Gift exchange.

 

  1. Open positions
    1. President. Penelope will be stepping down and Shirley Huft, the current vice president will run for this position.
    2. Vice President.
    3. Program Chair.
    4. Library Committee members.

 

Members interested in board positions may submit their names for any position they wish to hold. The general membership will vote for these positions in May and new board members will take office on June first.

 

For other positions, members should submit their qualifications for the position to the board and chairs and committee members will be appointed by the board.

 

A list of jobs that can easily be done by members who do not live in the area of the Rogue Valley include membership, points, programs, newsletter and web-master.

 

  1. Treasurer report – Ray Foster.

This year’s show was only exceeded by last years show and the total was approximately $5000 less.  Member’s commissions were only 12% this year and may remain the same next year depending on our bank balance and the show total.

The amount of the scholarship has been increased to $1800.

  1. Information regarding the 2011 show

Changes will be made to the application indicating that

    1. One week before the booth pick will be the last chance to change down a booth size.
    2. Booth picks has gone back to the 2006 rules – in order of points and no penalty for not attending the booth pick meeting. (If not attending or asking another member to pick for you, a booth will be picked by the show chair; however, no complaints.)
    3. Both picked must be different from the prior year’s booth to keep a fresh look from year to year.

 

  1. Program – Bob Johnson – How to Build a Spray Booth

Bob presented a slide presentation on how to build a spray booth, his spray booth and spray guns with helpful hints and techniques, as well as products to make a spray booth a success.

 

  1. Gift Exchange

Numbers were picked and members who brought an item for the exchange picked a gift.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 p.m.
