Clayfolk 2016
These are some pictures taken during the recent 2016 Show and Sale
Hope you enjoy them ... if you have some to add please send them along
Our advertising was exceptional this year ... our postcard was sent out
Our publicity outreach made us front-page locally
Our poster was on display everywhere you went
There was great coverage in a number of local newspapers
And we had a new venue
With wider aisles
Bright and cheery with lots of room for customers
The usual crowded aisles of Friday night weren't a problem this year
The new sales area layout really helped keep us (appearing) organized
Plus those little yellow flags we were waving helped direct customers
And we provided soothing music for those patiently waiting in line
Our new Group Booth was stunning
We provided security with a smile
[ AMANDA HIGGINS ]
Plus some wonderful jazz vocals to sooth the tired shopper
Our booths were well stocked
We had almost any shopper's dream covered
The season was upon us
We were definitely ready
It was a marvel of shapes and colors
And the patient details were evident in the work
[ LINDA HEISSERMAN ]
We anxiously awaited the flood of customers Friday night
[ NANCY LEEVER ]
Our booths were well stocked with pottery and lots of smiles

A dandy amoungst us was dressed-to-the-nines
[ LARRY NELSON ]
And he fit right in with some of his customers
[ TRACIE MANSO ]
[ STEPHANIE FRIEDMAN ]
It wasn't so much selling our work
[ PETER ALSEN ]
as it was sharing our excitement
Some actually got interviewed for the local news
It was fun to watch the interactions with customers
[ FRANK GOSAR ]
Cheryl used a free-buttons-if-you-mention-my-booth program
[ CHERYL WEESE ]
And of course there were great demos
[ DENNIS MEINERS ]
We showed off our various techniques
[ JON KING ]
Bottles were thrown
[ CHRIS BORG ]
and hand built little animals emerged
[ MICHAEL FROMME ]
There was enough variety to slabber-gas the audience
[ ALISSA CLARK ]
And despite slipping glasses we wowed them with our techniques
[ JON KING ]
And bowl-ed them over with our enthusiasm for pottery
Tea continued to dazzle the crowd ... despite his wonky forms
[ TEA DUONG ]
And Frank made it look way too easy (and had way too much fun)
[ FRANK GOSAR ]
The Kids Clay area was a favorite destination from the very beginnning
And it just got more popular as people found delight in clay
Mother-daughter projects were common
But kids really loved being left alone to expore as their parents shopped
We taught how to use the slab-roller
And the pencil as a trimming tool
The simple discovery of a cut-off wire made some wide-eyed
It was non-stop creativity
Each potter-to-be was intent on their own creations
Many worked diligently and created multiple pieces
Some simply liked to squish the clay
And some kids caught the whole pottery excitement thing
We saw a unique ram-press in operation
Even painted fingernails didn't matter when it came to making art
Strange creatures emerged from the dreams of the kids
It was non-stop enjoyment
Collaborative works brought families together
And just how some tools worked caused the occasional frustration
But mostly it was simply pride in their creativity
Each construction was a personal statement
( though sometimes obscure )
Time permitted us to share our stories
[ ALISSA CLARK ]
Potters were happy
[ NINA FERNSTROM-DUONG ]
Lots of potters were smiling
[ FAITH RAHILL ]
Some even cracked a rare smile
[ TEA DUONG ]
Big grins adorned faces all around
[ DAVE PARRY ]
It was evident we were enjoying ourselves
[ CHERYL KEMPNER ]
Twosomes of smiles appeared often
[ JAN LACY and NANCY STEWART ]
It was catching ... more twosomes got giddy
Smiling faces could be found in almost every booth
[ PEPPI MELICK ]
Even the boss was smiling
[ THE HUFTS ]
Getting silly was totally OK
[ NINA - CHERYL - FAITH ]
And hand gestures made stories all the more interesting
[ CHRIS WOOD ]
The new Group Booth was also home to some big smiles
[ SUMMER BRENDLINGER ]
And Art's smile lit up the place
[ ART LINNEMEYER ]
Rare slow sales periods gave us a chance to catch-up
[ TRACIE MANSO and CAROLE PAQUIN ]
Schmoozing about life
[ SALLY PURSELL and JANE ANDERSON ]
We listened with wide-eyed attention to each other's stories
[ PETER MEYER ]
Damn ... it was fun !
[ MICHAEL FROMME ]
Even behind-the-scenes things were going well
[ MICHAEL MANN and DAN MINARD ]
Towards the end of the show things got a bit crazier
[ KEN STANDHARDT ]
Some really wanted to get that last customer's attention
[ CHERYL WEESE ]
But perhaps not all the methods were well executed or understood
[ CHRIS BORG ]
A simple smile usually was the best invitation
[ NINA FERNSTROM-DUONG ]
It was another amazing affair ... see you all next year !
