Hannah Brehmer In the early 60's when I was majoring in Fine Arts at Ohio State, I turned my
emphasis to clay and have been there ever since. From 1968 to 1980 I had a studio and gallery in Carmel Valley,
California. Eventually I moved to South Lake Tahoe where I had a studio and taught at the local college. My interest
was always with functional cone 10 reduction work but I played around from time to time with pit, barrel and saggar
firing. In 2005 my new husband and I moved to Ashland and bought property with a great barn. We spent about a year
rahabbing it so that I now have a wonderful work area and gallery. And my focus has been concentrated on pit firing,
saggar and raku (naked and horsehair). I brought my big old gas kiln with me when we moved, and now despite the
cost of propane, I will resume some cone 10 firings with a special interest in ash glazes. I'm represented in the
Ashland Artisan Gallery on Main Street. |
